Contrary to what Google had to say, links from Press Releases Do have ranking benefits

The recent tests conducted by SEO consult blog has contradicted what Google’s Matt Cutts had to say in Google Forums a couple of weeks ago. As per Matt,’ I wouldn’t expect links from press release web sites to benefit your rankings,” However, in the test conducted on Matt’s Blog on a press release issued for PR.com that had Sreppleasers as the anchor text (pointing towards his blog), it reflected out that the blog began to rank for the anchor text that was the part of the release. Thereby, contradicting what Matt had predicted. So, far there has been no response from Google representatives on this topic. However, it is still not clear what Matt was trying to justify by making such a remark. Maybe, he had some other things in mind such as he meant specific press release distribution sites or the fact that it won’t help for competitive rankings. An answer to this is yet to come from Google’s side.
