Google’s asteroid logo commemorating Asteroid 2012 DA14’

Memorialising near miss of Asteroid 2012 DA14 from hitting the earth, Google had planned to bring a special logo for the same for today. However, respecting the sentiments of Russians (because of the devastation caused due to meteor explosion in the country), the company decided not to go ahead with the logo (so called Google Doodle). The news confirming that Google has decided not to use was presented on ABC news saying – “Out of respect for those injured in the extraordinary meteor shower in Russia earlier today, we have removed todays doodle from the Google homepage, a Google spokesperson told ABC News. The doodle was created to mark Asteroid 2012 DA14 passing Earth.” The doodle was quite innovative in its structure and displayed that as the asteroid drops on Google (in the search engine page), the second ‘G’ dodges out of the way, making it appears quite funny.
