Thumb rules on how to avoid buying domains that are penalized by Google!
Matt Cutts, head of Google web spam has shared some rules on how to prevent buying domains that are penalized.
According to him, if one is not sure of which site to buy, they can check its domain by typing the command “site: domain.com” into the Google search bar. If domain name does not appear in the results, it is clear that site is penalized.
Doing so will also help you get idea about people’s view regarding the domain. Certainly, reputation of domain would be in front of you.
Next suggestion by Matt Cutts is to search domain name on Archive.org. From there, you will get to know the history of domain, all the details if any spamming was associated with domain.
If thinking to buy domain from the owner directly, then one can ask for analytics reports. This will help give an idea about the traffic on the site, which would subsequently tell whether the site was a hit or not.
Lastly, in order to know the penalty of site, you need to send reconsideration request that will disallow all links which are pointing towards the domain.
