Will Google ever remove PageRank from its toolbar?
‘Why don’t you turn off the PageRank feature in Google Toolbar?’ this was the topic of a recent video posted on YouTube by Matt Cutts.
Google has always restrained from the importance of Toolbar PageRank. In fact, in 2009, it removed Google Webmaster tools completely from its toolbar. However, it still has the PageRank indicator tool in Internet Explorer and other web browsers.
Giving a possible explanation for this, Matt said,” We still have it is not because SEOs use it but rather because searchers and users still use it to determine how reputable a web site is.”
‘Google will continue to support it as long as users are using it.’ This is what Matt further stated.
However, keeping all this aside, Matt said that the ‘writing is on the wall’ for this tool as more and more browsers are coming and replacing the older versions. For e.g. IE 10 does not allow add-on, even Google Chrome does not have PageRank in-built in it.
